Not all redness-relieving drops target the same receptors. LUMIFY uses a selective alpha-2 ingredient, while some older formulas use ingredients that act on alpha-1 or a mixture of alpha-1 and alpha-2 receptors.

Its brighter-looking effect comes from reducing visible redness. The formula contains no bleach or dyes.

Examples help explain the difference: tetrahydrozoline acts on alpha-1 receptors, naphazoline has mixed alpha-1/alpha-2 activity, and brimonidine targets alpha-2 receptors. These are different ingredients with different actions, rather than different bottle sizes of the same formula.
